2021 event cancelled and postponed to 2022 or 2023

On January 14th 2021, the executive board of Slovenian Orienteering Federation decided, based on organising committee proposition, to propose the IOF the cancellation & postponement of WMMTBOC 2021. On Friday, January 15th 2021, IOF has accepted our propositon and it is now official that World Masters MTBO Champonship will not not happen in May 2021 in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia. However, we have also agreed to organize the Championship in May 2022 or May 2023. We will keep you informed when dates will be fixed.
At the time of this decision, Slovenia is still in lockdown and so are many other countries. Possibilities to travel are very limited as well. It seems unlikely that social distancing and all other Covid-19 measures will loosen any time soon. Perhaps it would be technically possible to organise 4 races for those competitors who would be able to travel concidering all neccessary measures. But we all know that WMMTBOC would be just another formal event without all the fun, gathering, sightseeing, etc. Therfore, under current circumstances it is impossible to organise a WMMTBOC 2021 as planned.
However, this is still a sad and difficult decision, but a reasonable one and only possible course of development. We know all our preparations and effort already made will not be lost.
